Repeat Prescriptions

Repeat Prescriptions

There is a choice of ways in which repeat prescriptions can be requested:

  • Calling in at the surgery and filling in a repeat prescription request.
  • Via SystmOnline; please call into the surgery with your ID to register for this. A short tutorial can be arranged with a member of staff if needed.
  • Handing in the counterfoil on the back of your repeat in to reception or posting it.

Non-urgent advice: Please note

Prescriptions received between 10am and 1pm each day will be ready for collection after 48 hours.

Any prescriptions requests received after this time will require 1 more working day for collection.

This excludes weekends and Bank Holidays, please always contact you chemist after 48 hours in the first instance.

As a service to patients some local chemists collect prescriptions from the Surgery, please ask at reception when you request your prescription if you think this service could help you.

Online Prescriptions

To order prescriptions online requires you to visit the practice and present ID and complete the registration process. (Registration Required)

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines.

Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.

NHS charges

From 1 April 2020, the charges are:

  • Prescription (per item): £9.35
  • 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £108.10
  • 3-month PPC: £30.25

There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website.
